Come join the fun at the Intergenerational (IG) Games! IG Games, run by the County's Aging & Independence Services and community partners, is seeking older adults to participate!
During the IG Games, active adults (age 50+) are teamed up with children (usually elementary-school age) for a half-day of educational and physical activities. The activities are typically non-competitive and not rigorous. The mission of the Games is to increase mutual understanding and respect between generations and to promote healthy, active, life-long behaviors. Active adults serve as role models for youth and help to dispel stereotypes about the abilities of older adults. Two IG Games events are coming up in our county in April: - The South County IG Games: Tuesday, April 3rd at the Chula Vista Training Center (formerly the Olympic Training Center) from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM (PDF Flyer); if you’d like to participate, please register by March 27th by submitting the registration form to the YMCA or by registering online.
- The North County IG Games: Wednesday, April 4th at the Richmar Park across the street from the San Marcos Senior Activity Center from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM (PDF Flyer); if you’d like to participate, please register by April 2nd by either calling the San Marcos Senior Activity Center at (760) 744-5535 or going to: www.san-marcos.net/departments/parks-recreation/adults-50
Thank you and hope you can join us for a chance to have fun, get some exercise, and make a difference in a young person’s life!
