April 1, 2020 Greetings to Members of the Retired Employees of San Diego County from President Stan Coombs: There’s a lot to tell you about since the explosion of the coronavirus pandemic changed our lives a few weeks ago. First of all, RESDC is alive and well despite this shutdown. But no one knows how long large gatherings will be prohibited and businesses closed, possibly months. And that leads to an extremely important message. If you haven’t been receiving E-mail editions of our popular “THE NETWORK” newsletter from RESDC, it means we don’t have your E-mail address and may not be able to communicate with you in the future because our contract printer and postal mailing service may be closed under future COVID-19 guidelines. I therefore urge you to send your E-mail address to RESDC, at resdc@resdc.net, for inclusion on RESDC’s confidential E-mail list. By doing so, you’ll continue to receive “THE NETWORK” newsletter, regular E-mails, and links to important outside news articles that address your financial wellbeing. Secondly, be assured RESDC remains in good shape despite having to temporarily suspend some social gatherings, and activities that require staff in our offices. Staff members are working from home. Communications between RESDC and your SDCERA retirement system are open. RESDC staff, officers and volunteer members of the Board of Directors are still tracking events in the retirement world, and will address issues that arise. Our insurance and many discount products and services are still available and we’ll continue providing information about retirement and issues affecting retirees. And don’t forget the RESDC website, www.resdc.net, where you can find “THE NETWORK” and other resources. In short, RESDC is continuing to be your retirement advocate throughout any shutdowns, monitoring your retirement system and informing members. Things will return to a normal. RESDC is strong, but we must be able to communicate with you. Please make sure we have your E-mail address! The best to all of you. Stay safe. Stan Coombs RESDC President |
