The San Diego Foundation has had to delay the launch of the Common Scholarship Application, originally scheduled for December 1st. In the December 2021 RESDC NETWORK, we announced that the Theo and Evelyn Yakel Scholarship application would be available on December 1, 2021 through the website for The San Diego Foundation. On November 30, The San Diego Foundation notified us of a data security incident that may impact the Foundation’s data security. The San Diego Foundation has decided to transition to a new online application environment for the 2022 scholarship season. They are prioritizing the privacy and safety of their student applicants first and foremost. Unfortunately, this will delay the launch of the Common Scholarship Application originally scheduled for December 1. The San Diego Foundation’s team will work judiciously to set up a new, secure online application that will work best for students, evaluators, donors, and The San Diego Foundation team. We will keep our members informed as to when the Scholarship application is available and the new deadline for applications. All children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of RESDC members are eligible to apply for the Yakel Scholarships. For more information about the Yakel Scholarships, please contact the San Diego Foundation at scholarships@sdfoundation.org. A sponsor certification letter verifying that the sponsor (parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent) is a RESDC member must be attached to each application filed. This document can be obtained by calling the RESDC office at (619) 688-9229 or sending an email request to resdc@resdc.net. The foundation requires this document be verified and signed by a RESDC staff member and will not accept an application without this document. PLEASE NOTE: All eligible high school seniors are allowed to apply for both the Yakel and the RESDC scholarships. Details concerning the RESDC Scholarship Program will be in the January 2022 issue of THE NETWORK. |
